Training & Personal Development at Austal Australia

Introductory presentations and workshops in the rotations. We also have trainings with Engineers Australia and Graduate offsites which are of great value to improve personal skills.

The graduate program provides us with a lot of offsite trainings and workshop to build ourselves with non-technical aspects that would help boost us in our career journey. While on the job training is also very structured with tasks set up to help us build our competencies to allow us to do our jobs well and progress in our future careers.

As part of the Graduate Program, we are exposed to several training sessions conducted by Engineers Australia. We also have quarterly off-site training sessions where members from our executive leadership team come out and share their knowledge and experiences with us. We also get invited to talks done by industry experts. We also get exposed to emotional intelligence information session and trained on mental health as well.

Effort and money is being invested however engineers australia training is sub par. Would be better to have targeted technical training. Often feels like parts of the HR team are just ticking the "training" box.

Austal is still developing their training strategies, I can see it's improving fast.

The company places a lot of effort into training its graduates.
