We’re looking for an undergraduate student to join our Business Services team at our Sunshine Coast office! Flexible start date and hours to fit your study commitments.

Your career in Business Services

Our Business Services team work closely with clients of all types and sizes, in every sector -construction, retail, hospitality, not-for-profit - and provide range of personalised accounting, tax and compliance, and advisory services. With advancements in technology, consultancy and advice forms the bulk of services provided by our Accountants, using their technical expert knowledge to help clients grow their business, minimise their tax liability, forecast their cashflow, plan for the future and more! 

As an Undergraduate Accountant, you’ll undertake a variety of tasks, from preparing income tax returns and financial statements to liaising with the ATO and more! You’ll work closely with the team to build a strong foundation of technical accounting and compliance knowledge, developing your skills and experience before you’re introduced to more complex engagements, setting you up for success in the future.

Eligibility

  • You will be studying towards an Accounting, Commerce or relevant undergraduate or postgraduate CA/CPA eligible degree.
  • Flexible start date available from November 2023 with option to work part-time during semester and up to full-time during university breaks.

Checking emails, liaising with clients to receive information on their R&D activities, writing/drafting activities according to AusIndustry guidelines/ITAA legislation. Calculating financial incentives and meeting with clients.

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
