As an Undergraduate Accountant in our Superannuation team, you’ll build your technical accounting skills, whilst you complete your studies.

Our Superannuation team assists clients in navigating the complex and everchanging superannuation landscape. They ensure Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF) are compliant with all relevant laws and regulations, provide expert advice on investment strategies, help clients understand the tax implications of their superannuation, and ensure they are taking advantage of all available opportunities to maximise their retirement savings and meet their financial goals.

What you’ll do:

As an Undergraduate Accountant at BDO, you can expect to:

  • Prepare financial statements, annual returns, BAS, IAS, Annual GST Returns and other compliance documents for SMSF clients
  • Compile information to support the transactions of the SMSF
  • Identify accounting and compliance issues, ensuring legislative requirements are met
  • Extract and monitor client’s situation regarding dealings with the ATO
  • Draft correspondence and communicate with and on behalf of clients.

What you’ll offer:

  • You will be studying towards an accounting degree or relevant undergraduate or postgraduate CA/CPA eligible degree.

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
