An Experience in Business Services 

We are excited to offer Vacation opportunities to join BDO’s Business Services team across November/December 2022 and January/February 2023 (placement dates dependant on location). 

As a Vacationer within our Business Services division, you will have the opportunity to:  

  • Grow your knowledge of taxation, compliance & financial reporting activities 
  • Gain exposure to clients which are diverse in size, sector and requirements 
  • Engage in regular social activities enabling you to meet and connect with our people  
  • Participate in tailored peer group initiatives with your Vacation cohort 
  • Access mentoring and support throughout your placement (including a dedicated Buddy to guide you along the way) 
  • Build practical work experience within a global firm where exceptional service delivery, collaboration, empathy and integrity are part of our culture and values! 

About You  

We are interested to hear from students who:  

  • Are in their penultimate year of a Business or Commerce degree, majoring in Accounting 
  • Display solid academic achievement 
  • Will be eligible for CA/CPA postgraduate study 
  • Are involved in extra-curricular and professional development activities 
  • Demonstrate a motivated approach to continuous learning and career development

Checking emails, liaising with clients to receive information on their R&D activities, writing/drafting activities according to AusIndustry guidelines/ITAA legislation. Calculating financial incentives and meeting with clients.

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
