Graduate Auditor at Bentleys
7.00 AM
My day starts promptly at 7:00 am. I get out of bed, having already prepped my lunch and work attire the night before. This morning routine allows me to have a quick breakfast, usually a banana or muesli bar, so I can get a healthy start without rushing.
7.45 AM
I hop on my bike and cycle to the office. This 30-minute ride is both environmentally friendly and a great way to avoid traffic. I often listen to my favorite podcast or morning playlist, which sets a positive tone for the day. On days when I need to visit a client, I leave earlier and use public transport.
8.30 AM
I arrive at the office, grab a coffee from our premium machine, and settle in. The aroma of fresh coffee is an essential part of my morning routine.
8.45 AM
I check my emails to catch up on important updates. Then, I confirm the day's tasks with my senior or manager to ensure I'm aligned with the week's plan.
9.15 AM
With a clear understanding of the day's expectations, I dive into my client assignments. I gather all necessary requests and queries to send to the clients early, giving them ample time to prepare the required documents and explanations for our audit testing.
10.30 AM
I take a short break to stretch my legs and grab some fresh air. A quick walk and a piece of fruit from the kitchen help keep my energy up.
10.45 AM
Back at my desk, I continue with audit testing for specific clients. If I’m juggling multiple clients, I rotate between tasks based on the availability of documents, ensuring steady progress across all assignments.
1.00 PM
Lunch time is a welcome break. I usually bring a prepped meal to save time and enjoy the company of my colleagues both from audit and other departments as well. However, I also love exploring the variety of lunch spots in Hawthorn when I crave something different. For today, we’re having a team lunch at a nice Indian restaurant.
2.00 PM
Refreshed from lunch, I return to my audit tasks. This is often when clients provide updates on my requests, so I review the documents to ensure everything needed for the audit is in order and request any additional information if necessary.
4.30 PM
As the day winds down, I update my manager on my progress and get brief feedback to fine-tune my work. This helps set clear expectations for the following day. I then complete my daily timesheet and begin to wrap up my tasks.
5.00 PM
I leave the office and cycle back home, reflecting on the day's achievements and planning for tomorrow.
7.00 PM
I make sure to include at least an hour of gym time in my post-work routine. Staying active is crucial for my well-being, and tonight it's leg day—a tough but rewarding session.
8.30 PM
After the gym, I unwind with a home-cooked Malaysian dish (if I’m not feeling too lazy). I cherish the time spent catching up with family and friends via video calls, maintaining strong connections despite the busy schedule.
11.00 PM
I end my day with great satisfaction and look forward to what will unfold tomorrow. Good night.
