Sustainability at BHP

Looking at tailings dam, I feel that BHP is extremely committed in working towards safety of human, environment and society. It follows all the step to reduce risk towards tailings dam and cares for environment and safety. It takes Dam safety review annually performs FMA and QRA as a part of GISTM and committed towards it.

There are ongoing and future renewable projects that are currently on going in my company contributing to net zero emissions.

We spend so much money on environmental monitoring and maintaining program. Enormously i would say, and everyone in my company have the strong sense of responsibility for it.

Don't know too much about it, but know they have a coffee recycling stand, and provide the 3 bin system. They have reduce the office footprint in line with employee's preference to work from home.

Waste is not dumped and is processed to make it safe before doing so

Judging from what I have seen the past few months, it seems like they are pretty committed toward sustainability.

Taking every practical step to ensure the company is working towards a sustainable growth.

The company commits to large scale goals and contributes financially, but smaller scale environmental considerations in the operation have been slow to change eg. limited recycling, renewable energy or electrification throughout the business.

Wide scale solar is currently being rolled out

Have net 0 carbon emission goals for FY50

Improving all the time, becoming more of a priority. Offering waste management system, automatically turning off lights

BHP is aiming for net zero by 2050. There are sustainability plans in place to reduce GHG emissions by a certain percentage each year and trialing autonomous vehicles to reduce emissions.

BHP has a big drive to decarbonisation

Have target and goals, but haven't seen these implemented on my site.

Difficult due to the nature of the industry but the efforts are there.

The company has invested in improving emissions reduction and electrification

Some decarbonisation projects in the works, but no real clear projects that I am aware of that target reducing environmental footprint.

Environmental footprint seems to be the lowest of all priorities on site. Enivronmental improvement projects are conducted to avoid penalties and bad publicity rather than any positive reasons.

The company is in the process of a number of renewable/circular economy initiatives, and environmental incidents are taken seriously.
