All mine have been great however it's a large business and it may vary

My managers have had different communication and management styles - i have had one supportive and helpful manager who has conveyed information frequently and other managers who have expected more independence in work and finding information and have not communicated as frequently. as a graduate, it is great to have a supportive manager who can act as a mentor, communicate very frequently and guide you through the start of job/career which will give you confidence to have that independence. praise and recognition could be better as i have only received some feedback on my work.

Very accessible, very motivated to give you as much experience as you're willing to gain. they will call out recognition where its due and will have conversations if things aren't as smooth as they should.

My managers are very accessible and make good mentors as they treat the graduates with respect and attention. performance feedback is also a standardized process across coles so the standard of feedback is very high. managers do not hesitate to provide praise for the work i have done.

Good at communicating their thoughts and putting time aside for you when it's required, but sometimes i feel like they can be a bit passive. depends on the manager, i suppose!

Managers often have 1-1 meeting to catch up for feedback and career development

Some mentors are great, some aren't so much- but i feel like that's every company.

Have had a very mixed expereince with line mangers. some have been great, others have made me consider submitting a resignation. grad program management is not good, not much support offered and takes weeks to get answers to simple questions. lots of change in upper management at the company and lots of good managers have been made redundant since i have been at the company which makes me think this is not a good company to stay at long term.

Line managers are really great and super supportive, once you get any levels higher than that its not super great and you don't necessarily get a lot of time with them.

Will depend on the person and function. yes, some people make good mentors with some functions even having a mentor/mentee program. feedback is always provided and is encouraged. recognition occurs in different ways.

Most managers have clear communication and set clearly communicated expectations. most make good mentors, especially for graduates who aren't used to corporate life yet. performance feedback is never a surprise, and there is praise and recognition for things that have been done well.

Again, this is going to vary greatly. i've been lucky to have really great managers in my time, however, i have also witnessed some truly awful managers. 3 out of 4 of my managers have been extremely accessible, 1 of them has been a bit of a mixed experience so far. some made excellent mentors, 1 has been somewhat absent. performance feedback has always been handled well. praise has always been handled well; recognition has also been handled well. overall, a great experience.

I believe this will be on team by team basis. i've had rotation experience in a small team where my line manager was very accessible, and we'd work together daily. he was also open to questions and we were able to debrief on milestone meetings. i've been in a larger team where my manager was more busy, but i was put in other squads where i was able to collaborate closely with fellow team members. but many of the team i've been in have been super supportive and celebrate the wins of the teams.
