Su-Yin

Quad Strategy Section, US & Indo-Pacific Division at Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Master of International Relations at University of Melbourne

This has been a great avenue to make a contribution back to DFAT and support a workplace that values and celebrates diversity and inclusion.

Since joining DFAT as a graduate in 2021, Su-Yin has worked on priority policy issues and experienced DFAT’s crisis response efforts first-hand.

“My first rotation was within DFAT’s Consular and Crisis Management Division, where I supported facilitated flights for returning Australians during the COVID-19 pandemic and Australia’s consular response to the situation in Afghanistan,” she said.

“Leveraging my previous advocacy experience, I’ve since worked on arms control policy and helped coordinate Australia’s position on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation.”

Improving workplace culture is something Su-Yin is passionate about, and during the graduate program, she has been involved in DFAT’s Social Club and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Network.

“This has been a great avenue to make a contribution back to DFAT and support a workplace that values and celebrates diversity and inclusion.”
