The job requires a lot of hours which can sometimes be tiring. However, this is very normal for the industry. I also believe Lendlease are implementing a lot of changes to try to reduce these hours. For example, engineers are put on a roster to work Saturdays rather than being required to work every Saturday. Staff are also able to leave early on Fridays and RDOs.

I was expecting 10+ hour days plus Saturdays, however there is a big focus and movement towards work/life balance at Lendlease. As an undergrad they capped us at 45 hrs a week maximum. My construction manager would often talk about the importance of work/life balance.

While I never exercised any flexible working hours (other then time spend at home due to covid) the office was very accommodating to people commitments with children, health issues and WFH requirements.
Intern, Sydney - 25 Feb 2022
It depends on when I get my work done. Sometimes it would 10 hour shifts or 9 hour shifts. They are flexible about my studies and when I need to take day off for classes.
Intern, Randwick - 24 Feb 2022
Lendlease is very flexible with my university timetable and I was able to work more in the university break.
Intern, Sydney - 24 Feb 2022
Can be long - but this is expected in the industry. Fairly flexible around hours and working from home.
Intern, Melbourne - 24 Feb 2022
They are quite flexible when I need to take days off for uni. Of course the more days of work the better, as the site is changing every day.
Intern, Sydney - 23 Feb 2022
Working as a casual makes my working hours very flexible, However I do maintain the same start time and finish the same depending on my commitments after work. Obviously what you put into your week you get rewarded when it comes to pay day.
Intern, Sydney - 22 Feb 2022
In construction, the hours are very long but depending on the team your manager will be flexible with your schedule.
Intern, Sydney - 22 Feb 2022
Good working hours, compared to other companies in the industry. Don't have to work overtime often. Flexible start/finish times.
Graduate, Sydney - 25 Jul 2016
Work hours are relatively long 7am-4:30pm sometimes even skipping lunch breaks (Including some Saturdays). I haven't really needed much flexibility
Graduate, Sydney - 24 Jul 2016
Work long hours, including every second Saturday currently. they can be flexible if you have a reason like as appointment etc.
Graduate, Melbourne - 22 Jul 2016
Could be a lot better. I spend 10 hours on site and the commute is pretty far. However, when I need a few hours to do personal stuff (and don't have something pressing to do) nobody minds if I disappear for a bit.
Graduate, Sydney - 20 Jul 2016
Averaging in excess of 60hrs per week. Company is flexible with hours however workload does not allow for flexibility.
Graduate, Port Macquarie - 20 Jul 2016
Very flexible. I generally work 8:30-5/5:30 on a quiet week. If it's busy around end of financial year or end of month, possibly later and we may get dinner at the office. I'm very lucky in the particular department that I am in in terms of working hours compared to the other graduates.
Graduate, Sydney - 19 Jul 2016
Work is flexible but the nature of the work requires lots of face time on site.
Graduate, Melbourne - 19 Jul 2016
Hours are the main downfall of my position, there is not a lot of flexibility when it comes to weekly hours, you are expected to work at least 7-5.30 daily as well as selected Saturdays when the contract only states a 38hr week.
Graduate, Newcastle - 19 Jul 2016
Minimum 10 hours per day and have a Saturday roster. Do not receive any overtime.
Graduate, Newcastle - 19 Jul 2016
I work 6.30 to 6-7. I believe my hours are too long compared to being paid for only 8. My supervisor is great with flexibility of hours, however very reasonable.
Graduate, Sydney - 19 Jul 2016
Company is flexible. Line manager is great. Generally I am in the office from 7 until 6pm at night. The day goes fast, and there isn't enough hours in the day to get it all done.
