About the program: 

Our Livestock Trainee Program is an entry level start into the business and offers successful candidates the chance to gain valuable experience in all aspects of the livestock activity while completing an in-house Certificate in Livestock Marketing training program. 

Over a period of 24 months this program provides hands-on training to our next-gen livestock sales agents, enabling them to deliver value to our livestock producers. You will be provided with tools, training and mentors to enable you to transition into livestock sales roles with a career that can take you into management. 

You will be a part of our rural teams, working and learning on the job. You will be attend involved in four leadership and skill-building workshops, complete e-learning requirements and attend industry training programs.

Designed to broaden your knowledge of how the Livestock industry operates the 24-month program includes: 

  • Providing professional service and support to all clients, suppliers and the business
  • Safe handling of animals
  • Identifying customers’ needs and ensuring these are met during and after the sale
  • Improve the return from livestock activities through by marketing the full portfolio of livestock marketing products and services offered by Nutrien Ag Solutions

At the conclusion of the 24-month program, our Livestock Trainee’s will continue to add value to our company and their relevant team in an ongoing fulltime capacity.

What you’ll learn: 

  • Business skills – compliance, sales and client relationship building, communication, marketing and social media, understanding finance, problem solving and negotiation and leading and managing a team. 
  • Livestock skills – next generation stock and station agency skills, livestock productivity, animal health and nutrition, Auctions Plus, auctioneering, wool technical and market requirements and emerging technology. 
  • Nutrien business products – rural supplies, wool, real estate, water, insurance and finance.

Who we’re looking for: 

Applicants must have a strong desire to learn and succeed in the livestock industry, excellent customer service skills, and strong negotiation abilities and will also demonstrate:

  • Completion of Year 12
  • Minimum of at least 12 months working in the Agriculture or similar industry
  • Current motor vehicle license
  • Demonstrate initiative and be keen to learn
  • Reliable with a good work ethic

    • Being such a big company, the communication can sometimes not be the greatest, but most of the time it is good.

    • The pay is monthly which can take time to get used to.

    • Sometimes the expectations are unclear.

    • A large company with multiple business units that can internally compete.
