Anastasija Celebicanin

Senior Performance Analyst (Substantive Role: Business Analyst) at Queensland Government Digital Graduate Program

Bachelor of Business Information Systems at The University of Queensland (UQ)

The program exposed me to many opportunities (networking, events, training, conferences etc.) that I feel were really beneficial in progressing my career.

What was the best thing about being on the Queensland Government Digital Graduate program?

I found the graduate training to be really relevant and useful! Not only was I able to expand my network with graduates across different government agencies, but the program also allowed me to develop an understanding of the machinery of government and ways of working in the public sector.

What classification did you achieve (ie. AO4 etc.) post program?

Post program, I achieved an A05 classification, but am currently seconded to Acting Senior Performance Analyst (A06 classification).

Do you think the program helped to speed up your career?

Definitely! The program exposed me to many opportunities (networking, events, training, conferences etc.) that I feel were really beneficial in progressing my career.

What's your job about?

My substantive role as a business analyst entails investigating processes, systems and data to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement and uplift. I also help teams create dashboards, strategies and processes that will assist them in reporting, insights, and overall increase process efficiencies.

In my role as an acting Senior Performance Analyst, I ensure the right measures are put in place to track performance against strategic initiatives, and lead business improvement projects. My experience as a business analyst has provided a great foundation for this new role.

What's your background?

I completed a Bachelor of Business Management, with a major in Information Systems. I have experience in consulting, stakeholder engagement, business analysis, and project management.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

I believe that a university degree provided me with a solid foundation that I use in my job everyday. However, having the ability to absorb diverse information and synthesise it into something simple which is easily understood by a wide range of stakeholders is just as important! People find their way into business analysis from all sorts of backgrounds. I think some of the key capabilities to be successful in this type of role are collaboration, problem solving, innovation and a drive to continuously learn.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

The coolest thing about my job is the variety of work and diversity of different teams I get to work with! I’ve worked on several technology research projects, business process improvements, and this year I supported strategic work on business and operating models. Within the fast-evolving technology environment, I feel there is no better time to be involved in, and leading, digital transformation and automation projects.
