What's your job about?

As a Permanent AO5 Project Officer, my role is to support multiple large-scale and complex projects within the Strategic Technology Asset Management Program. I am responsible for organising project activities, maintaining documentation, ensuring accurate project processes, liaising with departments, reporting, procurement, and drafting project management products. This role requires a high degree of adaptability and proactive problem-solving, skills that I honed during my time in the Digital Graduate program.

What's your background?

I hold an MBA and have had a wide variety of jobs in several industries. My career journey includes cellardoor supervisor, where I conducted winery tours and wine tastings. Following this, I served as an operations manager for a boutique and historic wedding venue. I then took on the role of a digital designer and web developer in a startup before joining the digital graduate program and moving to Brisbane.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Absolutely, as a project officer, if you are dedicated to learning, adaptable, and understand the importance of networking, you will excel. Continually expanding your knowledge and skills, staying updated with industry trends, and being curious about your field are crucial. What's the coolest thing about your job?

The best part of my job is the people I work with and the impact we have on the community. Working with a team of dedicated and passionate individuals is very inspiring. Every day, I learn something new from my colleagues and contribute to projects that improve public services and benefit Queensland residents. Knowing that our efforts lead to positive changes makes every challenge worthwhile.

What are the limitations of your job?

One of the primary challenges is the bureaucratic nature of the public sector, which can slow down decision-making processes and project implementation. Navigating through layers of approval and compliance requirements can be time-consuming, demanding patience and persistence.
Additionally, balancing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously requires careful planning, strong organisation and time management. The pressure to meet deadlines and manage expectations from various stakeholders can occasionally be overwhelming.
