It is generally a pretty welcoming environment and diversity, although an issue, seems to be improving. There are some people within the company that make it harder for people in minority groups, however generally the company is trying to improve.

Seems from the perspective of a middle aged white man, that they are trying to implement an open policy of getting the best people regardless of gender, background, or preferences. I don't and won't need childcare or maternity leave so I have inquired. They are working hard to change their current retention rate, so that has to be a good thing, as for promotion still down the road for me so I'm not worried at this stage.

There is a variety of backgrounds included into teams.

It seems like they focus on it as part of their global strategy. However, I have not specifically noted how diverse the teams are.

Company is accepting and diverse.
There does seem to be retention issues between the 3rd and 5th years at the company

I think diversity has certainly been shown in this company as there is a lot of talk and promotion about it

Diversity commitment is strong. Saab spends significantly on encouraging young people of all backgrounds into STEM careers.

Lack of policy however amongst defence are leading

Is the company respectful and inclusive to a range of people? Yes - I haven't been subject to or heard of discrimination within the company. But, it does feel as though management says "we don't have enough women", but then also doesn't hire many - this may be due to the gender ratios in engineering as a whole, but I think some improvement is needed.
Graduate, Adelaide - 24 Oct 2022
Saab is flexible with arrangements and does not discriminate.

Seems really good, but always room for improvement. I have been very well supported as a woman and have not experienced any push back personally which seems related to my gender. Not like I have experienced in other companies. Shift in recognising aboriginal culture has also been significant without being confronting. I think there is more room to take this further, but overall, I am happy.

The company offers several great initiatives through the Wellbeing committee, Learning and Development and HR, however there is little interest from management to act on this to any meaningful extent.
Graduate, Adelaide - 19 Oct 2022
The company is very welcoming to people of all genders, groups, backgrounds, etc. I haven't seen any discrimintation.
Graduate, Adelaide - 19 Oct 2022
The company does have a lot of diverse workers and they are generally very receptive to all things around diversity
Graduate, Adelaide - 19 Oct 2022
I have not had much interaction with this issue so do not feel well informed enough to provide an insightful comment. I know we do have a very active diversity committee though and the company is happy for employees with kids to work around school commitments.

Not many women, but I think that comes with the territory of being a software based company.
Graduate, Adelaide - 18 Jan 2019
The company works in engineering in the defence sector and has many long-term employees and so building a diverse workforce is a challenge due to the labour pool. Saab does seem to encourage diversity in recruitment where they can, particularly at a graduate level. They are generally quite good about work-life balance and accommodating people with family commitments in general. They also have a number of women in management positions around the company and place a lot of effort into veteran employment.

In terms of diversity, I haven't noticed any discrimination in recruitment, there seem to be many ethnicities and religions represented. I can't really comment on sexuality as I've never been asked about it, although I guess that speaks for itself. The employee retention rate is quite high, and I haven't seen anyone leave with there being bad blood. As far as I can tell promotion is based on experience and merit. Maternity leave seems to be well supported, I haven't heard any complaints about it from the people I know that have taken it.
Graduate, Adelaide - 17 Jan 2019
I think they're working on it and there is a diversity committee but it is still largely a white, male company. However (as a female) I have seen absolutely no evidence of sexism or racism or anything, and the maternity/paternity leave protocols are perfectly fine.
Graduate, Adelaide - 17 Jan 2019
My company is very diverse from different cultures to a good and increasing balance of sexes.
