A comprehensive induction program that included the development of fictitious exercises inline with Saab software engineering processes.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Nov 2023
Informal training has been quite good in my current position as I have been closely mentored since I began. The formal training has been useful however I haven't participated in much as there isn't a lot of training that is relevant to my current position. The induction process could include better training for programs that the company uses.

So far, I'm getting access to the programs i need to grow that exist outside of the set company graduate training, as long as I present a business case as to why, which I think is fair.
The graduate training provided isn't always directed at mature workers which I understand as majority are school, uni, graduate role. Would be nice to opt out of some of the 3rd party supplied once in that regard.

In the graduate program, we have soft skills trainings with workshops that can be a hit or miss. The graduate program also has workshops with different divisions to give graduates a wider understanding of the business as a whole.
Graduate, Adelaide - 06 Nov 2023
Informally I have learnt a wide range of electrical/engineering processes this year. There could possibly be more formal opportunities for training
Graduate, Adelaide - 06 Nov 2023
The scope was large to cover, but I think more could be done to boil things down so that the leaner gets a better understanding of the work processes.
Graduate, Adelaide - 18 Oct 2023
Graduates have tailored training and then training within their business unit. I have learned lots regarding project costing, leadership & communication and the use of standards across different areas of mechanical engineering
Graduate, Adelaide - 17 Oct 2023
I've learnt a bit more about hospitals as well as complications that can come with deployable hospitals, validation and verification, design compliance as well as using new organisational software (e.g. IFS, JIRA). I've also improved my communication and organisational skills.
Graduate, Melbourne - 17 Oct 2023
Formal induction sessions were conducted very early on, and all at once. While a lot of important information was conveyed, I fear I have forgotten most of it by now.
Formal grad school programs have been good. Departmental introductions are brilliant, while externally-run soft skills workshops have varied in quality.
Informal training has been exceptional. My team are incredibly supportive and open. I couldn't have asked for better mentors from whom to learn in my first year out of university.
Graduate, Adelaide - 17 Oct 2023
The grad program has had some cool and unique training sessions, however I feel like this will drop off significantly after the grad program is finished.
Graduate, Adelaide - 17 Oct 2023
Training workshops grant understanding but not much practical experience.
Had an induction that taught the basics of what i'll be doing but most experience is just from doing the actual work.

They company does a good job at formally training all employees with company specific tools/processes. Project specific tools or processes are sometimes more difficult to get trained on, depending on the project manager. This is often due to a lack of expertise in the company. However, there is a lot of flexibility to learn new tools if they are deemed useful to the project.
Intern, Adelaide - 23 Jan 2019
The grad program has been excellent, providing me with exposure to different areas of the company and personnel
Graduate, Adelaide - 23 Jan 2019
I spent the first two months in an induction team, learning about the specific processes this company uses.

For graduates Saab have an extensive "Grad School" program that covers a wide range of technical and non-technical topics from finance to systems engineering and communication skills. The company also provides the opportunity to have a non-technical mentor.
Graduate, Adelaide - 17 Jan 2019
Graduates participate in an internal Graduate School which includes training from senior members of departments across the company. This helps develop a wide range of skills and knowledge. Online training is also provided.
Graduate, Adelaide - 17 Jan 2019
Starting at the company and going into the Maritime area, we were given 2 months of training to learn background knowledge and company specific practices. This really allowed me to hit the ground running when I joined my team. Aside from that I've completed an external training course (on ADA) that was organised by the company.
Graduate, Adelaide - 17 Jan 2019
There are opportunities for training but I haven't seen too much evidence of it to be honest. There is a grad school for the first year of the grad program though, which helps acquaint you to different areas of the company and seems enjoyable and informative. Whilst there may not be so much formal training, we have access to online training platforms and everyone is always happy to help you out!
Graduate, Adelaide - 17 Jan 2019
As a new employee you are put through an induction process and depending of the business area you can have large amounts of training in systems used and process etc..
