Community Development team in Wollongong or Nowra.

What does an Environmental Engineer and Environmental Scientist in Community Development do?
- Our Community Development team work to deliver projects that activate city and suburban centres, small towns, rural places to create destinations that make places feel like home.
- As an Environmental Engineer you will be involved in:
- Researching, designing, and planning engineering work to prevent, control and remediate environmental hazards.
- Getting in the field and recording data, numerical data, test results, taking photographs
- Working and collaborating with environmental scientists, planners, hazardous waste technicians, other specialists and experts to assist with addressing environmental problems.
As an Environmental Scientist you will be involved in:
- Assisting with scientific research and investigations which could include water quality studies, soil and groundwater investigations, environmental effects assessments, environmental management and compliance, and resource consent processes)
- Preparing technical reports and memos
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Team Leads, Ecologists, Planners and Engineers
- Supporting project work by collecting and processing data, and preparing project documentation.

Qualifications
About you:
- Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science degree
- Passion for learning and problem-solving
- A reasonable level of physical fitness is required for these positions, as field work will be involved. Fieldwork may be throughout NSW and Australia including in remote locations
- Eligible to work in Australia
- Currently in final year of degree or 1-2 years of experience

Reviews
Work on di_erent projects and sometimes go on site visits
Designing and drafting using software as per the standard and specification for the subdivision projects. This includes earthworks, road works, stormwater drainage, sewer and water.

Pros
The best things about working at my company are the culture and the level of support that I receive from colleagues, and the Graduate program that Stantec offers.
Working at Stantec provides me with various opportunities to learn and grow with multidisciplinary teams.
The culture in the office is inclusive and diverse. There are many cultural events held in the office, building a great base for staff to have fun and be social.
Good team; I like the work that I do, and I have reasonable working hours as a grad, absorbing a lot of experience and knowledge early in my career.
It is not just about finishing the workload at the end of the day but also focusing on other development such as leadership and public speaking by joining DPG and Toastmasters.
Cons
The situation of my team overall is not good, and they have limited work to provide to graduates.
WFH culture has gotten more inflexible. And the associated annoyance of working in consultancy is filling out timesheets
Lack of recognition for work that I do and being overlooked for opportunities that other grads get.
I would like to work on different disciplines. For example, someone from the transport team working with the traffic or Geotech people to do some of their day-to-day work.
The salary for this position is ok but not ideal, especially if you are living in a big city like Sydney.
