Position Description
Contract and relief positions are available for Special Education School Support Officers. SSOs provide classroom support to implement personalised and inclusive learning programs for children and young people with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and complex communication needs.
Your role
- Working in a small Special School, SSOs support teaching staff in the conduct of effective and appropriate curriculum delivery for students with intellectual disabilities.
- The position involves assisting students (R-12) with classroom support, and personal care including mealtime support and supporting students with behaviours of concern.
- Applicants need a Department for Education 'Authority to Work' (applied for via the DfE website).
The following certificates are also required:
- Working with children check (WWCC)
- COVID vaccination certificate (DfE requires any employee working in a special school or disability unit to maintain up-to-date vaccination against Covid-19)
- Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse, and Neglect – education and care training (RRHAN-EC) certificate
