Making a difference
Are you ready to make a real impact in the world? Alluvium is the place for graduates who want to tackle some of our biggest problems associated with natural and built environments.
We believe the application of creative thinking, applied economics, robust science and practical engineering can effectively address complex and interrelated threats to our natural environment. We influence and lead best practice policy strategy science and engineering.
We have always trod a path that is different, we are fiercely independent and our people come together with a shared vision and determination to effect positive change. The value of our work is measured in our capacity to make a difference in the world we live in.
We're looking for engineers and scientists from July 2024. If you are a civil or environmental engineer or an environmental scientist passionate about the environment, you'll fit in well at Alluvium. With the work that we do, graduates in environmental law, environmental policy and environmental management majors will be considered too.
In this intake, we're looking for people who have recently completed their studies or will finish by end of 2024. Many of our graduates are from Masters degrees, but we will consider people with great grades from their undergraduate degree.
Alluvium is where entering the world of work starts and when we say you can choose your own path, we mean it. Focus areas for graduates include:

As a graduate, my role is to provide project support. This means completing tasks assigned to me by the project manager. These mainly include qualitative and quantitative data analysis, spatial analysis, report writing, and some research. I occasionally attend external meetings with clients.
My role as a graduate is exciting, as I'm encouraged to work across a range of project area and with a variety of people in order to gain a good foundation/experience in what's available to work on at Alluvium. Day to day, my responsibilities may involve attending a resourcing meeting with my immediate team to discuss our respective focus and capacity for the week, and if anyone may need assistance. I may then have a meeting with a client and fellow team member to provide an update on how a project is progressing, and then discuss any aspects of the project that require feedback from the client. I may then be at my desk for a number of hours working on project work, which can range from data analysis in Excel, to writing communication/education materials for public dissemination, to making a map in QGIS, to designing an engagement workshop, or doing a literature review.
Graduate engineer mainly in charge of modelling works.

Sometimes as a junior person, you don't get to work throughout in a project — your contribution will be in a few project stages.
It is difficult to find the expectations, knowledge, and resources you need to complete your work and operate effectively in the systems and processes at the company.
It is not always clear what it takes to move up the ranks or be promoted.
