Seems diverse, however, I haven't really paid attention to this area.

I have transitioned from the estimating department onto my first project as a Contracts administrator cadet. I work closely with the construction team and am responsible for distributing documents to subcontractors, taking meeting minutes, ordering resources etc.

The managers make great mentors. I couldn't speak highly enough about my past mentor. I was paired with someone who challenged me enough without overwhelming me, and we set goals for me to achieve over a course of time. The opportunity to have a mentor is an extremely valuable tool, they really do take the time to teach you and make sure you understand what it is your doing.

Great office facilities, an abundance of resources, quality joinery and furniture.

Referral from an employee, then a phone interview, in-person interview. I'd say assessment comes down to your personality, how well you work/communicate with others, an work ethic. Previous experience? What role can you see yourself doing? What made you interested in construction? What is your past experience (non-industry related)? I think a direct, honest approach is best. If you be yourself and show a keen interest to work hard and learn you'll have a good chance.

Pays well.

I started in the estimating cadet program, having no experience estimating whatsoever. However, I graduated from the program after 6 months, with a better understanding of how to read drawings, learnt how to measure multiple projects, built confidence speaking to subcontractors and answering their queries and overall built up confidence in myself.

7.00 am to 6.00 pm on average. This will depend on University commitments, however, I have never been knocked back if I've needed time for classes or to study.

Time and monetary constraints often inhibit this.
