About Strategy and Innovation

Our Strategy and Innovation teams are critical to helping NAB achieve our strategic ambitions. We work closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and senior stakeholders across the enterprise to identify and execute the most critical strategic issues facing us. With a clear plan and focus on action, we assess customer and market developments to enable us to better serve our customers and communities whilst building a more resilient and sustainable organisation.

We work in a highly collaborative and supportive team delivering high quality advice and insights to our leaders. By joining this business area youโ€™ll have the opportunity to work learn from passionate and intellectually curious professionals who will support you to reach your potential.

Our Strategy and Innovation graduate roles are based in Melbourne.

The work youโ€™ll do in Strategy and Innovation:

  • Collaborate with colleagues and executives to develop and execute our strategic ambition.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of our long term strategic plans.
  • Evaluate potential business partnerships, acquisitions and investments.
  • Analyse financial data and performance metrics to monitor and assess the effectiveness of strategic initiatives.
  • Support the development of business cases and feasibility studies for initiatives.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to communicate strategic recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of strategic projects and initiatives. 
  • Assist in the development and execution of strategic communication plans.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practice in strategy management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of strategic planning processes and frameworks.
  • Support the Group Strategy team in various ad-hoc projects and assignments.

The 15-month Graduate Program commences in February 2025.

Pros

  • Amazing Culture and People. Employees are valued and recognised for the hard work that they put in. The company has a very supportive environment and has many different learning and development opportunities available."

  • Flexible working (WFH), emphasis on work-life balance. Big organisation so lots of areas to get involved in and explore.

  • Great learning opportunities - 3-4 rotations depending on your dream to get exposure to different parts of the bank. Good work-life balance.

  • Employees are recognised for the hard work and initiative that they take which gives them the opportunity to further our career development.

  • The graduate culture is amazing and everyone is very social and happy to catch up.

Cons

    • Sometimes we have to navigate lots of old tech and systems.

    • Because itโ€™s such a large organization, it can be tricky to know the ins and outs of what each function does, but that comes with time, experience and exposure.

    • Sometimes have to work long hours.

    • There were lots of stages of the interview process

    • We donโ€™t get any bonuses. Apparently they used to but they stopped a few years back.
