While in the graduate program I don't think there will be a lot of moving up in the company, as we change roles every 12 months. Each rotation however managers will be giving feedback that determines where we may sit in the company after the graduate program finishes.

Since 2012 has been improving significantly. Orica is a corporate partner with Engineers Without Borders and have brought down out of date inspections at manufacturing sites significantly to improve safety and reduce emissions.

Everyone is very friendly and willing to help within the office. However, there are certain divides between the two teams at the office and there could be more coordination at times. All of the managers seem reasonable e.g. if someone is forced to work long hours one day they can generally take some hours in lieu on the following day if desired. There are regular graduate catch ups after work. This brings together all the graduates from different sites around the city.

We do employee people from all walks of life and tailor a work environment according to their specific needs.

Dress code where I am based is smart casual, but at head office locations it may be more business attire.

Stimulating and enjoyable. I was given a response after each step with in a suitable time frame. The interviewers were approachable and could answer all my questions. Think about some of the key moments in your life and be ready to share them in the interview. The thing they want to see is someone that is able to deal with change in their life.

I entered the company at a difficult time in the market, and therefore the salary was not as high as some other graduates before me were offered (in a range of companies). While I was at Uni however I was not earning near what I am now, so going from that to anything is a big step and I'm happy with it. Company credit card to pay for anything purchased that is company related, including travel expenses. Discounted gym membership.

There are annual graduate workshops that teach soft skills and also include opportunities to network with company leaders.

1sr rotation as quite good, 7-3.30 and longer during shutdowns. 2nd rotation, technically 7-3.30 but more like 7- 5 and taking quite a bit of work homework home. Also receiving phone calls when finished for the day. I am happy to work the hours, and I enjoy my job but some recognition etc. for the hours worked would be nice. A bit of give and take on both sides. My bonus or pay increase was similar to others who worked a typical 38 hours’ work week.
