We’re looking for a Business Systems Analyst to join our agile team of highly skilled actuaries, financial modelling and software engineers. You’ll collaborate closely with others to translate a vision into features or functionality in our financial modelling software. You’ll work on a world-class and industry leading InsurTech software platform suite to build and execute financial models both on-premise and in the cloud. Our teams are constantly looking at ways to bring value to industry and clients through the symbiotic relationship between the insurance space and innovative technology enhancements. You will be working as part of a close-knit yet global team following Scrum methodologies to create and enhance products, whilst ensuring the product continues to meet high levels of reliability, maintainability, usability and performance.

The Role

  • Collaborating with team members and internal and external stakeholders to translate requirements into User Stories.
  • Research and development of actuarial/financial models and mathematical methodologies.
  • Active engagement participation in the full software development lifecycle – Software design, development, customisation, testing and deployment in an SME capacity.
  • Participate in Agile/scrum activities (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives), striving to continuously improve the team velocity, its processes and engineering practices.
  • Preparation of reports and documentation associated with actuarial/financial models and software development.
  • Provision of technical, product and modelling support services to both internal and external clients.
  • Support for scrum masters and project managers as required.

As a graduate at WTW, you have a world of opportunity ahead of you. You will drive your own career progression, acquiring new skills via training and by learning from your colleagues, expanding your experience by working on different projects and gradually taking on additional duties and responsibilities. You will also have an opportunity to move into product owner, software architecture, engineering, project management, quality assurance, DevSecOps or any another specialisation area, when you are ready.

We offer graduates the flexibility to study towards a range of qualifications from both technical and business disciplines depending on the needs of the business and individuals..

The Requirements

You will be interested in the insurance sector and be enthusiastic about financial modelling and software development in the InsurTech space, hence you will need to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in actuarial studies, computer science, finance, mathematics, statistics or engineering.
  • The ability to understand complex modelling structures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A well organised and meticulous way of working.
  • Proven time management skills and an ability to effectively prioritise tasks.

Other highly desirable, but not essential skills are:

  • Progress towards Associate qualification with the Actuaries institute.
  • Proficient in MS Office packages.
  • Understanding of Azure DevOps and Git.
  • Programming experience in C++, C#, Excel/VBA, Python or other similar languages.

Pros and cons of working at WTW

Pros

  • Welcoming place to work, and very understanding superiors when it comes to taking a little extra time to learn processes and the work. Legitimate incentives to continue study with pay rises and study leave.

  • Extremely welcoming and friendly people and team culture. Everyone is very approachable, easy to talk to and understanding of each other's circumstances.

  • I believe the best thing about working here is close knit client teams and the inclusivity of these teams.

  • Having an employer who wants to invest in you and help your professional development.

  • Flexibility, hybrid working, company social events - celebrating things like wear it purple day

Cons

    • Nature of the business, but work tends to clump a touch through the year, some months are crazily busy whereas others are quiet.

    • The inconsistent nature of consulting and meeting client deadlines. Can have the occasional lull of work with little to do, and other times have multiple competing jobs requiring many extra hours to complete.

    • I think the worst thing can be the technology at times. IT systems or devices not working.

    • Team with no set office days which mean it's difficult to create connections with co-workers.

    • Environment can be too quiet at times.
