As an Acquisitions / Group Investments Graduate, throughout your two years, you will work with Stockland’s Group Investment team who are responsible for establishing new investment opportunities and vehicles across the range of Stockland asset classes. Three of your rotations will provide you with exposure to Acquisitions, Strategic Capital, and Investment Management your final rotation will provide you with the opportunity to work anywhere within the business, this may include working with the teams who are at the forefront of our latest development projects.

This will help you decide where you would like your next career step after the Graduate Program finishes.

Responsibilities are varied; you will support the team to:

  • Engage, develop and maintain a network of industry relationships.
  • Build an awareness of competitors and market activity including the sourcing, analysis and presentation of market data and information.
  • Support Business Development Managers to prepare, critique and analyse feasibilities and cash flow models for the purposes of providing key return metrics, scenario testing and financial risk analysis to underpin business decisions for new acquisitions and financial bids.
  • Assist with undertaking site specific investigations (Due Diligence) and prepare the commercial analysis to secure approval for the relevant Stockland delegated authority to proceed with acquisition.
  • Identify risks and potential mitigation strategies.
  • Assist with preparing investment proposals.

Requirements:

  • You will have completed a degree within 24 months of the program start date, in February 2024.
  • We are excited to consider candidates from any degree background, including but not limited to Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Law, Property Degree or Town Planning.
  • Due to the permanent nature of this role, we can only accept applications from Citizens or Permanent Residents of Australia or New Zealand.

There are some BAU tasks that we have to do on a day-to-day basis, which is understandably tedious but important for the continuation of the business. However, in the teams that I have worked with, we dedicate a lot of time to building new tools, work on projects, and make our work more streamlined and automated. I have been able to learn a lot about automating processes on two cloud providers as well as on local machines. There are exciting projects all around and it has been very true that no two days have been the same. There is a huge innovation culture and innovation is appreciated and encouraged.

The graduate program was more ad-hoc tasks. It would have been a lot better if there were tasks that I could take ownership of.

Pros and cons of working at Stockland

Pros

  • My needs and my career goals have been listened to in conversations and accommodations have been provided to me to make those possible. There is a great graduate development program that has helped me grow a lot both personally and professionally.

  • The people are friendly, supportive and always willing to help.

  • Really good flexibility in terms of working arrangements.

  • Plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.

  • The inclusive and flexible culture that Stockland offers has been amazing.

Cons

    • Working hours/load can be a lot at certain times.

    • The office space is quite outdated as only a couple floors have been renovated.

    • There are not a lot of benefits/promotions that Stockland offers, especially from third parties.

    • Career progression is a bit slower due to the size of the company.

    • Sometimes, the workload outweighs the pay bracket.
