This is your invitation to join us on our mission to build places people really want to be.

Welcome to one of Australia’s leading property groups. As a Stockland Graduate, you’ll play a real and enduring role in creating sustainable and vibrant places where millions of Australians live, work, shop and play.

Our commitment to people and the planet is evident in what we do every day. That means a real devotion to sustainability and an ever-evolving culture of inclusion and empowerment.

You don’t have to have to have studied property to work in property. We’re proud to have one of Australia's most flexible Graduate programs; putting you in control of your Graduate experience and enabling you to explore all that property has to offer.

So, if you’re energised by common purpose, excited by bold and visionary thinking, and driven to learn and grow together with the best in the business then we’d love to hear from you. In return, we’ll invest in you, to support your career and your vision for your future.

As a Legal Graduate, throughout your two years, you will work with Stockland Group’s Legal team who are responsible for delivering legal services and solutions across a broad spectrum of practice areas. As a Graduate, you will rotate through Stockland’s various Legal departments to gain a broad overview of the function and its responsibility in ensuring the organisations success. Throughout your two years, you will have four, 6-month rotations throughout Residential Legal, Corporate Legal, CP Legal and Group Risk teams.

This will help you decide where you would like your next career step after the Graduate Program finishes.

Responsibilities are varied; you will support the team to:

  • Assist with managing advice, matters and transactions through a panel of specialist law firms
  • Support with drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a variety of legal agreements and issues
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of internal precedents
  • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of internal training on legal topics.
  • Contribute to team success by working collaboratively with other team members; sharing ideas and knowledge; and seeking to learn from team members.
  • Support internal stakeholders in negotiating and documenting commercial agreements and outcomes; and
  • Undertake or participate in ad hoc projects as required.
  • Enhance Stockland’s Operational Risk leadership practices and reputation by adhering to relevant compliance and regulatory obligations; participating in operational risk training; and contributing to the development and review of operational risk procedures.

 Requirements:

  • You will have completed a degree within 24 months of the program start date, in February 2024.
  • We have a preference for applicants who have completed a Law degree (or equivalent qualification).  Along with this, you will either hold or be eligible to hold an Australian Legal Practising Certificate following completion of a Practical Legal Training course in 2024
  • Due to the permanent nature of this role, we can only accept applications from Citizens or Permanent Residents of Australia or New Zealand.

Stockland has a strong ESG and a culture of support, empowerment, development, and reward.

We are committed to continuously improving the diversity of our workforce, and embracing an inclusive environment where diversity is a key driver of shared success for everyone.

There are some BAU tasks that we have to do on a day-to-day basis, which is understandably tedious but important for the continuation of the business. However, in the teams that I have worked with, we dedicate a lot of time to building new tools, work on projects, and make our work more streamlined and automated. I have been able to learn a lot about automating processes on two cloud providers as well as on local machines. There are exciting projects all around and it has been very true that no two days have been the same. There is a huge innovation culture and innovation is appreciated and encouraged.

The graduate program was more ad-hoc tasks. It would have been a lot better if there were tasks that I could take ownership of.

Pros and cons of working at Stockland

Pros

  • My needs and my career goals have been listened to in conversations and accommodations have been provided to me to make those possible. There is a great graduate development program that has helped me grow a lot both personally and professionally.

  • The people are friendly, supportive and always willing to help.

  • Really good flexibility in terms of working arrangements.

  • Plenty of opportunities to learn and grow.

  • The inclusive and flexible culture that Stockland offers has been amazing.

Cons

    • Working hours/load can be a lot at certain times.

    • The office space is quite outdated as only a couple floors have been renovated.

    • There are not a lot of benefits/promotions that Stockland offers, especially from third parties.

    • Career progression is a bit slower due to the size of the company.

    • Sometimes, the workload outweighs the pay bracket.
