The hierarchy of the organisation is very flat, with only 4 key consulting positions: business analyst, associate, associate principal and partner. Therefore the jump between positions is quite big and requires significant strong performance.

There is a very strong collegiate culture among the consulting staff. We play social sport together and many people are friends outside of work (e.g. weekend trips away together). Hours of work can vary. Depending on project requirements, hours can be long sometimes - though usually this will be recognised with time-in-lieu at project completion.

The firm is flexible in catering towards individual circumstances, e.g. parental or personal leave. Realistically there is a modest extent of diversity in the staff.

Managers are very accessible and easy to talk to, and doors are always open. Internal communication and feedback routines are something that we're working on at the moment, but I think we do well already.

Superb location, excellent views, large office space with plenty of meeting rooms always available, excellent change rooms, and excellent kitchen facilities.

I think we are well paid, and unlike many industries our pay grows quickly - particularly at the start of our career. Bonuses are a large and growing part of our compensation. We get well looked after in the office - fresh fruit, bread, unlimited chocolate biscuits etc

Most of the training occurs on the job and working with more senior consultants. Formal training programs do exist also, and consist of off-site problem solving training sessions and more technical based training modules (e.g. excel training).

Generally, I will leave the office at around 7pm if I'm staffed on a project. If we're leading up to a milestone or presentation, I will work late nights and/or some weekends. In these instances, I find that people are really understanding and appreciative. Another aspect of the culture that I really appreciate is the lack of presentism so if people have finished early, they are free and encouraged to go home. Relative to other consulting firms and other "intensive" professional service firms I would say that PJP is well compensated for the hours we work.

We're currently working on an IT strategy that will help reduce our carbon footprint through reducing paper use, and enabling better use of video conferencing etc to reduce travel for meetings
